You might have to be in a certain frame of mind to appreciate this comment, but I’ll say it anyway.

There’s something raw, stirring, about helping your significant other to revive parts of themselves that they had hidden long ago, for protection. Whether through listening, patient support over a long period of time, physical protection…knowing that they feel safe enough with you to unveil themselves in such a way is profoundly moving to me.

I was privileged to be in such a position once in my life and it changed my life. The understanding of how precious and fragile that kind of trust is…if you treasure it in the right way, it can truly enrich lives.
